Our Classes
Here at Gift of Dance Studio,
We offer classes for ages 2 & up, in a wide variety of classes that will be sure to broaden your dancer’s horizons in the dance world!
Ballet: The foundation for most styles of dance, this style is very precise and formal. Dancers are taught to be light, graceful, and fluid in their movements.
Pointe: This style of dance mirrors Ballet in almost every aspect. here at Gift Of Dance Studio, our highest level of Ballet dancers will get an opportunity to try their hand at Pointe once the instructor decides that they are ready! The biggest difference is the type of shoe that is worn.
Tap: This style is performed wearing shoes fitted with metal “taps” and is often characterized by rhythmical tapping of the toes and heels.
Jazz: This style of dance was popularized by ballrooms in the 1930’s and 40’s in the African American community. Commonly known today for its high energy movements, it is often described as “Ballet’s energetic cousin”.
Hip Hop: This style is characterized by bouncy and rocking body movement. Made popular by the Hispanic and African American communities, dancers are taught to be fast yet fluid with their movements.
Lyrical/Contemporary: These styles incorporate elements of Ballet, Jazz, and Modern dance. Lyrical and Contemporary are often taught to convey emotion and feeling related to the music they are performing to. Dancers MUST have at least two years of prior Ballet experience to enroll in Lyrical or Contemporary.
Musical Theater: Musical Theater is less of a particular style, but is more of a description of dancing rooted in the diverse history of Broadway musicals. Here at Gift Of Dance Studio, this class teaches singing, acting, and dancing!
Acro/Tumbling: While both of these styles involve acrobatic movements, the key difference between the two is that acro incorporates acrobatic skills seamlessly within a dance routine, while tumbling focuses on executing powerful moves with a strong athletic emphasis.
Majorette: This style of dance is a fusion of styles including Hip Hop, Jazz, and Burlesque. Majorette dancing is a celebration of Black excellence and the legacy of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
We offer classes for adults too! Classes for adults include Ballet, Fitness, and Salsa!
For our youngest dancers, we have a Mommy/Daddy & Me Class and a Creative Movement Class. Then the structure of technique classes begins with our Level 7 Classes and progress to our Level 1 (highest level/advanced) classes.
We offer academy classes (also known as recreational classes) that meet once a week. Because we want our students to be versatile dancers, we do offer multi-class discounts and sibling discounts, too! In addition, we also offer, by audition only, a competition team, in which its members come several days per week.
